I'm going the thinking positive route.  Big measuring device = Big fish.

What are you using on your Hawg Trough as an extension beyond the 31"?  I'm looking for something that would be basically retractable as the +31" fish are not the norm.

Thanks.

PM me your address and I'll send you some of my laminated GS Series extensions.  They get you to just over 40" and last a season or more.  Not retractable, but they do pivot around the connector to store nicely on the trough itself.   :smt001

You can also print the attached word file, cut it down the middle, slice off the top white section, laminate it with the extra lamination at the top, and get a basic connector like stainless screw and nut or an upholstery fastener.  The skilled step is in connecting it so the inches are true to reality.

This is how I did it, and it still floats. Added floatation and the wood floats too. Ace "The Helpful Place". Measures to 56". Anything larger requies a tape measure.

Thanks Eric and Rob.  Just what I needed.

I think I will go the yardstick route as it will cover up to Sturgeon size.

Or you could make some more of those fine wooden measuring boards you have and I will pm you my address and send some cash :smt003

I'd be into that.  A 48" redwood Trophy Trough will put you out about $150.   :smt001
