Has any one got a source of reasonably priced wire seals that accept two cables of approximately .150 diameter ?

I guess the alternative is to run two "single wire" seals, but that means that the FF mount won't be able to be placed over the single wire seal.

Also, has anyone ever spliced a transducer cable? I had thought that this cable would be coax, but it doesn't look like it. It has three conducters.

Regards,
Scott

I'm pretty sure you don't want to cut and splice your transducer cable.  I believe it may throw off the calibration to the point where you may need a new cable.

My Fisheasy 240 has the power and transducer wire together running to a single plug, which is small enough to pass throough my wire seal when the iris is fully open.  Both wires are run through a single wire seal, and I wrapped the wires with self-fusing rubber tape to build up the size of the cable so that the wire seal will fit tightly around the combined cables.

By the way, this self-fusing rubber tape is my new friend... I find all kinds of uses for it.  Really cool stuff.

Look up product number 7682A65 at www.mcmaster.com

I use the standard "iris style" wire seal from west marine.

hey scott, i think west marine might have wire seals if i am not mistaken. i thought i saw it in their plastic storage bins with all the other small marine items they have like stainless crews rivets etc..

as for the transducer cable, i was considering doing the same and splicing but i called west marine and they said of all the wires to choose from, thats one you dont want to cut. Kz has it right, it will throw off the calibration even if the length is changed just a tiny bit.

enjoy! i'll be learning to install a FF myself next week. if possible please post pictures. i can use all the help i can get!

thanks!

John
