Hi,

Hope to save some leg work by asking you guys...  Is Fort Ross good for ab diving next week?

I've been out of country most of this year and have not kept up with news and any potential regulation changes.  Thanks a lot.

Robert

If I'm not mistaken, The Fort is closed (indefinitely?) for ab diving due to a massive die off last year.

You can dive for abs there, they are just gonna be A little deeper like 30 feet. Closed April-May. The emergency closer has been lifted.. For piece of mind call dfg 707-964-9078. Good luck!! :smt006

I'll second the fact that its open. It was just closed for the first half of the season. But I found nothing in <20' water, at least on the half of the cove thats connected to the launch beach. My buddy was new so didn't go check out deeper waters. Did see some decent fish though. But unless you really need to hit Ft Ross, I'd advocate going to some other place to pick abs. Sure it's open, but why not let the area recover for a while. Just my .02  :smt001
