water temp in Monterey Bay ?

I have been watching the water temp at the bouy for the past few day and It has jumped 8 degrees over two days in Monterey Bay.  I was wondering what effect that temperature jump has on the Halibut and Salmon fishing.  Sorry if this has been discussed before.

hey Ed, do you know what the temp is at after it jumped 8 fegrees? halibut prefer warmer waters or they seem to run deeper. i know that i have seen more halibut on days i did not even need a hood while snorkeling in monterey. del monte was always a good bet. day's like that i get in the water at like 8 and im done with a halibut on my belt by 9 am and grabbing coffee for the drive home. never even had to go over water more than 10 feet deep.

i think its prime time for halibut as the tems are perfect. i think 57-63 is a great temp for them. i sure wish i had the day off to go look for them shallow. thanks for the great report. this is excellent news!

I might try tommorow morning if the temps hold.  Thanks for the knowledge.

Last friday, my fishfinder indicated temps between 58 and 60 degrees.........but no halibut love.

The 42 buoy is well offshore.  It's warming up out there, but looks to be cooler inside the bay.
