Im 31 years old from sacramento.  I was wonderig if aNyone tried or thought about buying a pontoon style sit on fishing vessel, and attaching it to a kayak.  They are somewhat cheap, comparing them to kayak stabilizers, they are nearly the same price with way more hardware, they will make your rig incredibly stable, they have all sorts of compartments.  It will drag a little, but also at the same time, you can easily mount motors onto them.  Getting excited over here right now.
Hello all, hope to catch some of you out at the port of sac.

I really think ppl over worry about stability. A good fitting yak has you pretty low in the water. Its pretty rare to just "fall over" For someone fall out you'd have to NOT be paying attention. And I'd be 95% of dumps happen in the salt with a good swell in play

They could make kayaks super stable, you could stand walk, and you could choose to sit on the pontoon seat which is rasied.  Not to mention hauling a lot more gear.  If you place the pontoon in the opposite direction, you could likely bring a friend and they could fish in the opposite direction.  I just got the idea at the store, walked up upon a kayak sitting next to a pontoon while searching for scuppers plugs for my boat hehe.

Most kayaks if you fit it well a very stable on their own, if you could find one with small pontoons and only attach the pontoons to the yak then I could see it coming in handy in a few situations.

Nice to be here mr. Matt, stripers Round watt yet?  Ive heard them caUght around howe and sac state, ive only biked the area so far this year, no real fishing, but have been scoping the area out.  The american river is super low, if they dont open up the gates soon, i dont know how stripers or shad will make it up past the el manto area.

Hey smelly bass, I have the same kayak as you. Does that stabilizer work well? I'm just curious

Gotta say there's some interesting ideas 'floating" around here.  I'm so unstable that I couldn't stand in a yak even with pontoons.

It's just hard sometimes when I try to reach the poles behind my seat and I feel to heavy. You made the stabilizers yourself?
