OK, here is the question. I currently paddle an OK prowler T11 and love it and plan on keeping it for most applications, especially like it for tight places where maneuvering is key.
Looking for a rougher water boat so I can get more days on the ocean.
I have searched the site and don't see much on getting a boat that's too big?  I am 5'10" and 170lbs so a boat like an X Factor looks a bit much to paddle and 33" width seems a huge for me.
Currently looking at test paddling a OK T13 and a Malibu X-13. Hopefully Humboats has the Malibu up here.
I have been told by some that getting a boat rated for say 600lbs and going out with maybe 250lbs with me and gear will put me high in the water and potentially compromise kayak performance? wind cocking, chine riding too high etc...
Any insights on this?
Not a brand question just in general. I know people have their preferences on length and such but, I am trying to "thread the needle" on speed and seaworthiness. (aren't we all)

Lots of guys here paddling the T13 and love it.  I think you're heading on the right direction by test paddling several models first to see which one works for you before making the final decision.

Chris I have went out otw with a load of about 300lb( including my weight) not really a problem. It still handled fine. I'm liking it more as I do more outings and appreciate the space that comes with it. This boat I plan to use for close range fishing mainly and I also like that I can carry my big o ice chest with full of stuff and still stable for the open water. I will be using the AI for WSB and salmon mainly when I pick it up. You can demo mine if you like

I use my tarpon 120 for everything, although a bit more length will help tremendously with tracking and keeping steady in wind. Try to demo some longer models to see how you like it before making a purchase.

+1 only thing is its hard to paddle, but most people with a hobie dont paddle they peddle.im 5-9 200lbs i stand on it out in sc in about 40ft of water
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
