Well-

I decided yesterday evening that since I didn't have to work today... I'd take Jr out fishing. We got to Del Valle at about 0630. What a difference a week makes. Last week... very little to no wind, water was crystal clear... and the fish were hungry. This week... big time wind, water was stained and the fish weren't hungry. The day started off great and went down hill from there. We paddled out and the shad rap got hit... I hand Jr the rod and it comes unbuttoned. No biggie though... about a minute later... another hit... this time, Jr lands him. A little LMB... Jr is all smiles... so, dad is all smiles. That was it for about 2 hours. Man, I tried everything and everywhere. Finally, we found some structure and got some action... Not much but it was enough to keep Jr's head in the game. Then, nothing... period. We were off the water at 1415. Long day for little results... Final score... Jr-5 LMB and Dad-Tired Out.

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention. Jr's rod got hit... or so I thought it got hit... so, I set the hook BASS Master style... SNAP!!! There goes Jr's rod. So, I guess the real final score is Jr-5 and Dad-Tired Out minus a rod... Looks like I'll be driving Jr to Mel's for another rod. Oh well... I guess I can just give him one of my other rods and get myself an upgrade... bonus for me!!!

Fred - an Ugly stick is always a good beginner rod for Jr. (or should I say "for you" :smt002)

Looks like Jellyfish may have some competition pretty soon :smt003
