One thing I learned about the rubber bands from Ken is that it isn't just to keep the gills from flaring but to keep the hook in the right position. Ken uses 2 rubber bands to keep the hook in the optimal position. Maximal hook gap exposure increases the likelihood of a corner jaw hookset.
