Hey Audieb, I was fishing with this guys that day,  and he even give me  bait. ( night crawler)  We we're fishing both for catfish.  :smt003 But I lefted him  when the winds pick up.

I have a couple big take down! Now I am wondering if that is PACU.  :smt003  Did he keep the fish?

When I worked for the Animal Shelter they confiscated some Pirahnas and my coworker dared me to pick one up and put my finger in its mouth. I did and it chomped the bejesus out of my poor finger Lol

I was watching a show where they were mixing in curry sauce into the bait to catch Pacu.  The pacu they hooked onto fought like a beast.

People can have many different kinds of pleasure. The real one is that for which they will forsake the others.

They are related to Piranha, but supposed to be vegetarian... like most fish thought, they are very adaptable.  Yes, Jeremy Wade of "River Monsters" fame surmised that in certain non-native environments, they have gone as far as attacking people... ouch.  There teeth are designed for eating nuts and seeds and stuff.  Imagine something that can bite into a Brazil nut no problem latching onto your boys... damn.
Never trust a man that doesnt like to fish...

The natives in Papua new guinea call them ball cutters
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Thanks for posting!! I had no idea about the history of pacu in area lakes.  I've only seen them on tv!

I wonder how well they reproduce around here. Anyone know?

I'd bet any bay area lake has aquarium fish in it. I've seen all kinds of fish pulled out of Newark Lake. Pacu's, koi, all that. A densely populated area, like the bay area, has a high number of dumb asses per square mile. It's just the way it is. Hopefully nothing gets too out of control.
