Cool - good news for future fishing
Where do they go when it's time to spawn? Do they find a river on their own or do they just hang around HMB till they die?

i think they'll return back to the polluted marina and then realize there is no river there....and then ? die.

i really dont know, but from all the TV documentaries i've watched, they return to the same waters they were hatched.....i could be wrong and i'm sure those guys know WAYYYYYY more than lil'ol' me.

The Chinook stray rate studies I have read suggest that between 10 and 40% of adult Chinook stray from their natal stream, so I imagine some of these fish will find their way to a hatchery or breeding ground.

The nearest stream would be at Linda Mar. Years ago, I saw an 8 pounder swimming in there but unfortunately, the local kids were fishing 'em out :smt011  (I called the Pacifica police but they never showed :smt011)

Don't know if Pescadero Creek harbors the Kings but I know the steelhead go in there.

If and that is a big if they had a chance to aclimate themselves to their "home" they will return. If not, they will come back to the harbor or right outside of it to die. A few of them will accidentally go into some little creek somewhere and maybe start a new stock; whoo knows. All I know is in Seward they have theirs come back into the harbor.

I hope this works and the program is successful.

two years from now, some of those fish may follow others and go up stream. I think the hope is they spend as much time as possible hanging around outside the harbor  :smt001
