shit bro, hopefully im not too late...Camanche is a low elevation lake and therefore all the warm water species are on the prowl right now. Camanche also has a lot of nice Bows' in it but u need to get your rigs/bait down to 35-40ft right now! troll the time area, spill way, and Hat Island, and the narrows for trout. If u can get your rigs down that deep, just troll rapalas or orange grubs following a dodger-14-18ins behind it. Flashers and a nighcrawler will do to tho. Drop shot or drag them whole nightcrawlers on the bottom on steep rocky banks w/ trees on them in about 25-30ft ow for the bass...goodluck out there chad. you need to get your ass up here to Sac and fish the AR, its on fire with the salmon bro. How did the fishing go up in Camanche? I'm about to head up that way in the morning in luck of catching some black bass, and having my daughter hopefully catch her first fish. Hopefully the fish are biting tomorrow.

Camanche was pretty much a bad place to fish in my opinion and experience. I'm more of a river person I think. Tried it out today, got one hit and a miss and it wasn't that fun of a place to be. No shade either

Summer is a tough place on all the upper lakes (Camanche, New Melones, Pardee) because of the weather and campers and jet skiers and water skiers and innertube things being pulled behind powerboats.  Once we're past Labor Day things lighten up pretty quickly.  I have fished Camanche off the bank for years and look forward to going there (as well as Angel's Cove at Melones) this fall once the lakes turn over on my kayak.  At Camanche you can find big trout off Little Hat Island and around the day use where the water stays fairly deep.  I will try going to the bridge above North and South Shore; I've heard it's a good distance and will provide quite a paddle, but the fish may be worth it.  I'm sorry about your experience; hopefully it won't spoil your desire to go in Fall and Winter.

I'll take your advice and try it again in the fall. I never really fished open water with water deeper than 15 feet. So it was kind of a new experience. Some of the small ponds look like a fun place to fish like the little pond called catfish .... something can't remember. I tried fishing on the south side shore
