Went to the West Carson river today, it was 49 degrees in the canyon and 32 degrees in Hope Valley this morning, what a difference only a few miles makes!  Ended up with 8 for the day, used a 2 wt. fly rod rig for a while for a few.  First one on the 2 wt. did a head shake and broke me off.  Second one I let run and tired it out so I could bring it up and release it.  I left all my indicators in my garage at home so I really could not even tell when I had a hit, I was lucky I even caught these two on the fly rig.  Forgot how hard these guys fight on light gear!  I had the entire spot to myself the whole time I was there.  All of the rainbows were released to fight another day.  The video shows how tiny the 2/3 wt. reel is, it has no drag as it is a click and pawl reel.

Nice job on the cr of the rainbows.  Hope Valley and the West Carson River are a real beautiful place.

Nice looking place to fish.

That is what I was thinking while I was looking around for a stick or something to tie on to use as a indicator!   :smt003

I have never used a strike indicator, dont even know how they work. I just grew up "feeling" the line, and smackin em that way.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
