I currently hunt with either my mares 75cm or a rob allen 80cm tuna, which seem not big enough to land a large WSB, i know its a dream, but i want to shoot one bigger than my dad caught..... so over 53 pounds... I take after my father, so i'd much rather have a gun that can nail the largest WSB that exists than one that would be fine for smaller ones but probably not sufficient for the monster.
what guns are good?
what else is nessasary? the more information the better
thanks in advance fuzz...........  :smt003

Where do you plan on doing this?

That determines what gun. As for accessories, you'll need at least 100 feet of floatline rigged for breakaway (again, length is dependent on location/habitat) or a reel, and for big ones, a slip tip with spectra (wire is too abrasive, and will tear and cut out of the delicate flesh.

I have a range of setups that I consider 'WSB' guns.  48-57" midhandles that can power up to three bands to reach out and/or punch through a thick fish. Soft 5' bungie with 80 stretch to 100 foot floatline with a tag line at the end with a couple small floats or knots.  One of my guns has a reel, but I have little experience with a reel in general even though I've shot a few decent sized wsb with one.  I'd say a good rule of thumb is you'd rather have to much than to little line on the spool.  :smt003

Test drive a few guns before hand.  If some one has has a 57" midhandle (any brand) that you can borrow, take it out and shoot rockfish to get a feel for it.  I can let you borrow a 48" three band with a slip tip if you like.

After all that, find a gun with power and tackle with 'give' that you are comfortable diving with.  Comfort meaning comfort, but also something you're diving and swimming smoothly with while not flailing around adjusting things.
