Mike, when you say the 'mast kept spinning' do you mean you're having problems getting the old non-turbo mast out or is it the new turbo mast that is spinning?

Wow,  They should just unscrew.  I have had to use vise grips because you can't get enough torque with a screw driver in the slot but other than a little lock-tite on the threads, there should be nothing stopping the mast from screwing straight out.  I don't recall the threads being reversed, but they might be brass.  It sounds like the threads might be stripped on the inside.  If that's the case, Hobie is great about warranty repairs and replacements.  When I has a seam split on my amas, Austin Kayak shipped me a new one at no charge and it arrived in two days.

Dude, what do you expect?  He is busy selling kayaks and servicing others from the people who are loyal to him. I have seen him spend an hour or more tracking down a $5 part for an old Hobie Cat for a total stranger. Maybe he didn't have the time at that exact moment.  In the past two days we have run into a dozen Hobies and their owners at Spring Lake (all displaying WT stickers) with nothing but great things to say about that shop.

You have a 2012 boat right? Does the drive say v2? There is two different styles of drive and fin up grades. V2 should thread in, but v1 was pressed in with a set screw. Also before you completely mess it up take it to a dealer and see if they will warrantee it. If the brass bushing is spinning with the mast I would look in to replacing it.

Problem fixed...known warrentty Issue with the V2 went to Adventure sports and did a warrentty claim but was told it woud be a while :smt009  purchaced 2 new sprockets and swapped them out and up and running...they said when they process the claim I can trade parts for stuff in the store... :smt044 :smt044 :smt044
