Hey Yall!

I'm new around here and in the SF area. Taught myself to fish at age 4 and havn't let up much since then - my next logical step after finally graduating college and getting a "real" job is to buy something nice to fish from - which led me here!

I'm just looking for advice for a damn good seat (I have bad lower back issues from martial arts & wrestling) and a stable fishing yak. Doesn't have to be fast, just good storage and customize-ability. I've read around and it looks like an Ocean Kayak Prowler 11/13 or Wilderness Tarpon 140 is my best bet for my price range (used under 750 bucks so I have so money left to trick it out).
Not really considering any new kayaks - I just can't justify the hit to my savings account till after grad school  :smt012

Thanks in advance
-D

Already in discussions with him :-)
I just wanted more than one opinion on types/seats etc. I can't be the only avid angler that wants a kayak and has a bad spine!  :smt001

nice....no you are not. While I dont have a bad back I say next to safety comfort is king! I use this seat. I've never had to leave the water for a sore ass or back!

I use this seat and love it. Pacific Angler. Now they added twice the padding. I just found out when I was looking for the link for you. I will be buying the new one very very soon.

As far as boats. Try the ones you think you want out and see what fits you best. My choice is the Tarpon. I am more comfortable in it for long periods than the OK's.

Hey Rob, you havent got that wildy new seating system yet> Its called the Phase3. I had one in my SIS Cape Horn. Thats the most comfy seat on the market for WS boats and its raised to keep your ass dry. IN A TARPON.

The tridents are the driest ride made for a SOT. Try both brands. they both have features specific to themselves.

I have that seat in my Ride 135. It is pretty comfy. I need to dial it in a bit more, but it is nice. He is buying used yak so I figured he won't be getting that seat and would need something else. It does look like that new  Pacific Angler will provide a drier ride in the Tarpon, or anything else too. I am going to get one soon. It looks nice. Already emailed Nuuana at Seairsports for more info.

<snipped> The tridents are the driest ride made for a SOT. <snipped>

Really? I've heard there others that are just as if not drier - maybe I've been mislead...

I really like the surf to summit seats, too.

Hmm. Casey, your links just incite more worries about kayaking and my bad spine. Maybe I should talk to my surgeon before dropping big money on a sport that will kill my back even more  :smt012

Have any of you had experience with these? http://www.wavewalk.com/W_Fishing_Kayak_Product_Information.html
They offer a saddle-type seats that look a lot better than most.
Thank yall
