well after some research and a very helpful and resorceful mr.atavuss,im trying the pvc setup that atavuss posted the link.im a little worried about the lenth of the front it might be to short.ill just have to keep an eye on it this next week.its very simple, all i did was just got two 1-1/2 inch pvc tubes and screwed them to the bunks of my trailer, glued the carpet and i was done.if your math is better than mine youll get it done alot quicker

Since I put this post up I've made some changes to my pipes.the pipes in the pics are5-8" I've pulled them off I now have 8' pipes and I put end caps on the back.the old pipes were bolted down from the inside.the new pipes are held down by 8 L brackets.only thing with this is I'm worried about the side flex might wear down the brackets

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Looking good Vince!  What did you use to glue the carpet on with?  I still have the pipe laying around for my trailer that I never got around to installing yet, maybe your post will get me motivated to do my trailer!

slide a thin piece of re-bar in pvc that should keep from sagging..

Looks like a really good rig here, Friend. I don't think whatever sag you observe will be a problem. I did something similar on my trailer. Fully confident in the PVC. That 2" Schedule 40 is strong enough to easily support the weight of any kayak. Yes, it will sag in the middle portion that is not supported by the bunks, but that seems like a good feature to me for transporting the kayak lengthwise with the keel on the carpeted PVC and much gear in the hold of the yak. Just MHO. My rig has performed very well for almost a year and I see no reason why it won't serve me well indefinitely.  I'll post pictures of mine in a week or so.

From my understanding and from some of the forums, because of the weight of the pa using the PVC should prevent it from the hull getting dents in it.the PVC is surpose to have some give so it will bend with the shape of the hull,I guess act almost like a hammock.steel pipes might cause the hull to deform and the bottom of the yak to get grooves.I think or that's the theory behind it.

Vince, did you use screws or did you drill through the 2x4 and use bolts?  I would keep an eye on the keel, it looks very close to the rear 2x4.

Dry wall screws.but I pulled those pipes off already, worried about it being too short.the pipes in the pics is about 5-8,the new ones are 8.the first ones I drilled through the pipe from the inside at an angle.the second I drilled thru the top.the new set up I'm using L brackets.with washers and screws.on a different note I saw your videos.man your lucky to have great access to such pristine waters.I mean around where I fish there's always garbage all along the shores.river or lake crap everywhere.the last time I fish waters like yours was when I was 13 summer camp at bear valley.all I remember was lots of mosquito but man the fishing was great.I'm sure those days are long gone.I was throwing a florescent red yellow bodied panter Martin spinner Carolina rig with a 1/4 oz egg sinker.

Vince,
Most of the times I fish the lakes I am the only one on the water.  I have several "secret" lakes that I have had 50 to 75 CPR (Catch Photo Release) days.  These lakes are very small and isolated, only around 7 acres.  One of them a 4x4 is needed to get to.  These are high country lakes over 8000' elevation.  The reason there is very little to no garbage is because there are very few visitors.
