Did a guided Striper trip with a local guide (Larry Aaker) on Friday.  Trolled the Rio Vista area for 12 to the boat, biggest was almost 8 lbs.  Had a double at the start before we got all lines out in the water, what a hell of a jump start!  Had 5 come unbuttoned and two of them felt bigger than the 8 pounder I caught.  This was my first Striper trip, I have lived minutes from prime Striper fishing all my life and never fished the Delta before.  Larry went back out today with three clients and they had 19 to the boat with the biggest going 12 lbs.

That's cool. What were you trolling? Colors? Does that guide have a web site? I'd be down to do a guided trip like that as long as the price wasn't too crazy.

***edit*** I just found his site. Thanks again for the report. I love striper fishing!

Here is Larry's website:

Larry's boat and gear is all top notch stuff!  I highly recommend him, his rates are reasonable.
Larry did another trip on Saturday with 19 to the boat, biggest was 12 lbs.  I would say the bite is ON!
Here is a video I took Friday:

What kinda Lures were you trolling? Did you have them tipped with a white trick worm? I think I might get my troll on soon in the same area. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Rio vista....double right off the bat tells me the bite may be early. The fact that locals are trolling tells me the water finally cleared up.  Plus pics.

Sounds like a great trip.  Whatever details were omitted shouldn't be an issue, its called fishing for a reason.

I trolled Monday for nada. Launched at Vieira's. Not a lot of people were catching fish that day. Trolled a chartreuse yo-zuri and a red/white Bomber with a white trick worm as a tail. The red-white combo is what was being trolled by most. I talked to a PB'er at the launch ramp who skunked as well, I told him that the funny thing was that I catch waaaay more stripers while sturgeon fishing than when I do when I'm actually striper fishing. That just goes for the spring time though, come fall, I'll be tossing plugs and I'll get into them I'm sure.

Atavuss, thanks for the heads up dude, I appreciate it.

Den, Atavuss' original report got me motivated to get out there and give it a shot. So I'd say it was a very useful post. Think before you respond with some dumb shit like that.

I did PM someone info that wanted to know the what, where, and how.  Den, you have one post, maybe a lurker?  What have you contributed to this brotherhood where you feel you deserve to know all the information?  I toned my response down a bit so I would not get the boot from Mods........ :smt003
