Hi All:

Was riding bikes with my daughter today and saw three dead Halibut  on the beach (10lbs +).  Never really thought they were in the lagoon.  Might be worth a catch and release trip. Flat water all day long!

Wow... I wonder how they ended up on the beach dead.  That's not good.
Mike, if you think they're in the lagoon, then I would definitely try drifting for them.

Oh god don't get Joel started on halibut in the Foster City lagoon!! From what I have heard they come in on a flood tide but then can't get out. I think Foster City has gates on the entry to the bay.

Joel or John can fill you in on the details.

There have also been BIG stripers caught on the San Mateo side of the lagoon :smt104

My buddy Edsel - who works for Oracle also mentioned that there Halibut are in the Oracle pond....just bring a doughnut to get the security guard off your back if you want to fish this area  :cook

Look like it's time for  a local recon trip  :metal

There are plenty of fish around there.  I have caught bat rays, halibut, striper, and sharks there.  I think foster city, certainly Redwood Shores, and many seaport is a breeding grown for many sea creatures.

Also, if you go under the san mateo bridge, there are some nice catches.  Around 50 feet or water in the channels.  Last time i caught a seven-gill.  The Alameda Sherrif came out on his boat and thought we where crazy for going out there.  It was raining and the chop was spilling over into our hulls, but hey, its kayaking and fishing!
