I'm going to hit a spot that produces on the outgo that is close to shore. There is a high tide of 4.88 at midnight, and low tide of -.22 at 7 AM. If you have some lights for your kayak and want to roll let me know.

Jeff

PS. As always, this trip depends on the wind. Too windy, and it will be a no go.

Wishing you much success and a safe outing neighbor.  I know you'll get some, it's just a matter of what size...
I would join you, but will be in San Clemente Island trying for monster halibut !!
Let's both put up some good reports this weekend.

Soon my yak will be ready for night fishing ...come on pay day..
I would like any  advise or recommendations on rod and reel set up that will help me get  Dino's in my yak..I have never fished for them and it is one of the reasons I am getting into kayak fishing....I am kinda strict about having the proper tools for the job(( I do not like being half arsed when it comes to my fishing equipment.))...I know you guys have put in the time and have the experience...
Thanks in advance for any advise  given.

Right on, SurfingDude. Dino fishing is the shit! Once you learn to detect the way they bite, and learn an area, it gets real exciting.
I think you should buy an Avet SX with 65lb braid, for sturgeon fishing. I don't have one, yet, but will get one, one of these days. I currently use a Penn 501 and a Shimano Triton spinning reel that a friend gave to me. I use one piece, Medium-Heavy Ugly Stik Tiger rods. I need to get rid of that spinning reel and replace it with an Avet. But it will work for the time being.
You could also ask what reel the rest of the guys think you should buy for sturgeon, in the "gearing up" section. There are a lot of guys who know waaaay more than I do around here!

I so want to be in on this hunt but cannot. Night lights on my yak never thought of it but now I will. I have been using as my weapon of choice a custom built 7 ft graphite rod with a rotator wrap in med/ light. Along with a Penn International 975 with 25 lbs p-Line. I fought the 8.5ft beast in my profile pic on that rod.

Good Luck and be safe.

Right on Spash, maybe next time.  I've got a Visipole by Yakattack, and a strong LED headlamp, as well as a high powered flashlight.  Hopefully we can do a night mission soon.

Just FYI, I'm not going tonight.  It's too windy and choppy out there to go alone.  I will be doing a night mission soon though!  Stand-by for hookup!
