Keeping bait alive can be a difficult thing to do but I have just the trick
First thing you need is a large tank like an old cooler or a large Styrofoam
Container 15 to 20 gallons 5 gallons is not enough and a good air pump with
A good battery.

The air pump is from bass pros it was like 40 to 50 bucks
The container I got at work and the air stones are from a
Aquarium shop I got the hoses there to.

This set will keep smelt and shiners going as long as you need to
But it won’t keep anchovies or other delicate bait alive they need a filter
Or constant water flow but it will keep these baits going for a short time say 2 to 3 hours
Long enough to get them to your live well on your kayak or boat

The pump should be in a water tight container it won’t last long if you don’t’
I used one way check valves on the air intakes and the hoses the last pump
Only went about one year without the container this pump is two years old
And going strong.

And one thing I do is carry a change of water 3 buckets 15 gallons and change the
water before bed.

Take a look at the pics and you will get the idea on how it works
