Is there anyone in Sacramento that may want to share some of their knowledge on kayak fishing Tomales and Berkley?  I know nothing about fishing the ocean but have fished inland for many years. I would really like to try the ocean but of course I am a bit leery, any tips would be really appreciated.

If you can make it down to Oyster Point this Saturday you will be around a ton of great fisherpeople. Even if you don't want to enter the derby it is a great place to meet people and get a great fishing info.

dlusk,
Tomales Bay really isn't the ocean and is an excellent place to try salt water.  It more like a long skinny lake.  It can get a bit rough with a strong northwest wind which is fairly common in the summer, but if that happens just hug the shoreline.   Many times it is flat and glassy.  There are lots of nice sandy beaches on the west side to stop, rest, and stretch your legs.  When you feel comfortable you can go out into the ocean, but be careful going over the bar at the mouth, because breakers form there sometimes.
