I just opened a SUP shop in redding, first day was last Friday! That looks pretty bad, I have some repair patches but for that big of a gouge it's not going to look pretty. If a shop can't do it or will just epoxy it, look in to solar res. it's a resin mixture that cures in the sun in a few hours. It's not going to look pretty but you should be able to seal it up. Let me know how it turns out. I could always get you a new board with an ncka discount. My new race boards should be in next month, 14' Wai SUP fiber glass, or if I can get one a carbon fiber race board. I can get you any of the Other Wai SUP boards and bring them to gs6 too.

I ENVY YOU!!!!! And thanks for the "bro-deal" offer. I used work for Aquan Sports and when we started carrying SUP boards, I tried it once and got hooked right away. A 14 foot carbon fiber race board would really be a dream come true. I just test paddled Ted / Golfish 12 ft. race board and liked it very much - I'd really like to demo a 14 footer sometime.  I will be at the HOW event instead of Shelter Cove. But I'd like to talk SUP with you sometime. I have a SUP page on my Facebook called "I.SUP". I'm not sure if everyone can see it or only my friends can see it. Friend me @ Joel Lotilla if you want to check it out.

I met you at bss but I didn't get a chance to talk to you much, my wife was the one paddling around with the dogs on her SUP. I'll post up when the new boards come in

You know... as bad as the dinging dampened the mood... I was still DAMN PROUD to see Eric B stay up and make a sloooow semi-circle on the SUP.   :smt003

Good job Eric, hopefully we can find a board just right for you.   :smt001

Mooch... I hope your board gets restored to it's original sexiness.  Definitely the smoothest SUP I've ever had the pleasure of paddling.  ;)

I love that Bark Expedition on flat water, the long glide on it is sweet. Mooch, let me know when you go pick it up from Doug, maybe we can do a quick test paddle around the harbor. Everytime I ride your Bark I want a 14' board so now I'm really in the market for one. Demo'd a few at Paddlefest, need to paddle more...I wonder if Doug has the Focus 14 footer?

Will do. Doug himself want to demo the Bark as well. He mostly surfs off his shorter SUP. I'd like to see if I can surf the Bark on the ankle slapper waves as soon as I build up some strength. Just another activity I want to scratch off my bucket list :smt002

Looks great! Did Doug do it himself or did he have someone do it?

Pretty much paddling everyday after work if it's not howling, AP, FC, RWS. Let me know, evening paddle in the harbor sounds cool, we'll have to grab Fuzz too since he's nearby.

He did it himself. I would have paddled yesterday but Doug told me to hold off for a few days till the repair cures. It was too windy anyway - but I did see a lot of whales along the coast. Saw 4 at Montara Beach just beyond the surf line.

KEWL!!!  You should have told him to insert a Scotty Flush mount in the board too; that way you can put a rod holder to troll...... :smt044

ps: can you take a picture of the "Fin Box"? I wanna see if my lock will work on it....

I am SO HAPPY you have your board back... and the repair looks extremely legit!

Thanks again for being so generous with your SUP.  Roselyn is hooked bigtime, and I'll end up getting one myself as soon as I have the bread.

Yeah, I'm stoked for you too Joel, i know you love your board.

It's catching bigtime. Laura is totally into it, she is paddling a laird board on loan through Surftech. We'll be either purchasing it or getting another this summer. I guess I better "brush up" on my SUPing. I gotta up my workout intervals with something, and these are pretty fun.

That's totally cool Sean. Let me know when you get your SUP boards and I'll show you my favorite spots.

*If any NCKA'er want's a free lesson, feel free to PM me. (I used to be a SUP instructor for Aquan Sports) . And I'll tell you this, SUPing is as easy as riding a bike. The nice thing about SUP is that if you fall, you fall on water and not pavement  :smt002

Some tips....

- momentum is your friend. Just like a bike, if your not moving, it's harder to get good balance
- never look down when paddling - look to where you want to go. (you can start looking down once you get more comfortable on the board)
- keep your paddle as vertical as you can when paddling and use you core muscles (just like kayaking)
-a nice light weight high end paddle can make a difference.
-if you buy a board make sure your feet agree with the padding (mine sucks :smt011)
- stay away from the first generation SUPs that have no grab handles. (but you can always buy the handles - I got one for my friend at Claveys)

Any other questions, feel free to contact me here or in Facebook. Always happy to help out!

Before you buy... contact my buddy Chris Hollingsworth. He is a big rep... lots of demo boards after events ( https://www.facebook.com/adayatthebeachevents )
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!
