I recently bought a Lowrance 4x DSI fish finder. Needed a good FF to hunt down bait for salmon. I've seen the resolution on these bad boys and it's pretty impressive. It is thin and seems perfect for a kayak. I'm not sure about battery life but i took a gamble. It was relatively priced around 200, but I found a deal for $186 total.

I guess it is too late to ask for advice, but wondering if others have an opinion on this. I guess, I can still return it if there is a strong opinion on it. -- Keith

I done some research on those but like everything else some people like em some don't .I was gonna get one but read that they don't work that well for shallow water.but for deep water they work really good.as far as battery life I use a cabelas brand 12 volt sealed lead acid so I'm not worried about that.don't know what setup you gonna use,I paid 30 dollars for battery and charger.I ended up buying the elite 5x color ff non dsi.only thing I would be worried if the transducer would shoot thru the hull.
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
