So i usually dont have to move Minnows to far. But to get them and go to berry is at least an hour in the truck.

My method is to use a troll behind bait bucket and put in in a regular bucket to minimize splashing, with the an aerator of course.

I heard it is Important to keep them cool. So i bought a 3 dollar styrofoam cooler.

Should i put some ice in with them?

How do you do it/ Whats best to keep them alive?

Thanks for clickin' :smt006

blue/frozen ice pack into the water. Dont use ice, it will melt down, adding chlorine to the water, killing the minnows. I put them into a 1/4 filled 5gallon bucket(if u have lid, use it) then run aerator. If you've got a tub that the 5gal. bucket will sit in, use it. The spilled water will stay in the tub, not getting all you dry goods wet in the back of your truck.

I'll add more later, but when I bought my bucket, I also bought a lid and then cut a tiny hole through the tip to fit the aerator hose.  Kind of a pain because I have to disconnect the hose from the actual aerator and feed the hose through the hole but it works like a charm and nothing gets wet.  I then place the bucket behind my passenger seat, and move the front seat back - essentially locking the bucket into place between the front and back seat so it won't tip over.

Chad I use one of these I drilled a couple of holes in the Top for air hose and vent. No spill and keeps water cool.

I have (well technically) Adam (ATD) has my full size Ice chest with aerator affixed and hose and stone glued to center bottom. If it's hot out I freeze the small 8oz water bottles and put them in there too. ( cold fish and water ++) I transfer them into my bait holder at the lake as needed. Keep them in the shade and they last and last... Bring xtra "D" cells for the aerator :smt003 Have kept minnows for weeks in there!
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

For Berry I used the same bucket method others mentioned and it seems great minds think alike.  I couldn't find my lid for some reason so I just strapped a tarp over the top and bungeed it on for the trip and it worked like a charm.  However i've seen so many of them poor lil' guys die in the heat, bucket and arearter and all.  In the winter they do fine without even an aerator in my bucket for a weekend.  But i've seen others using a ice chests and their minnows seem to last forever!  I'm gonna have to give that a try next time, since I have a small cooler that would fit in that bucket already! :smt003
