It's certainly helpful to have a spotter on the shore to help judge the surf.  They usually have a higher vantage point and can see the fronts of the waves.  Sometimes they look smaller from behind than they really are.

A little help pulling in the kayak never hurts.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

It's also helpful having someone around to pick up the pieces after rolling, before they become completely claimed by the ocean.  Thanks to Mike for grabbing my detached FF monitor.  First time rolling going out, so I didn't bother stowing things.

Yeah.  When Randy and I cruised over to see how things were doing at Willow Creek we found surfers............. :smt009

John - Thanks for the tips from someone knows and experience big surfs.

JTF - Next time I will take shots of 10+ft shorebreaks at Limekiln beach when I meet the chance again. Just curious, why do you want pictures so much?
