Great day to head to the hills to do some bass fishing. I had a very pleasant drive up to Valley Springs. The directions Action posted worked fine for me :smt002. I arrived at Hogan around 7:30ish and was greeted first by a large dog and his bank fishermen, then Action paddled up in his new kayak. Tote and Becky arrived shortly that.

The lake was beautiful this morning and this location looks ideal for bass. I got a lot of tugs on my senkos. I think I threw about every color I had. I also tried a couple other lures and crank baits. I was only able to land one bass today. After a couple hours the bites turned off...nothing. I started back to the launch and met Brian and his dad.

Picked up a nasty nail in my tire, Toe helped me change it. Then enjoyed a nice lunch with Tote and Becky. Thanks the help and lunch.

Action Jack... thanks for hosting us up there. I had a fun day. Thanks for the honey too.

I only took pictures of the one fish I caught. As I brought the fish on the boat I noticed a huge hook stuck in it.  I pulled it out and sent him on his way.

My first time ever at New Hogan I arrived a little late as I missed the Hwy 26 turn off and went about 5 miles past it before I knew something was definitely not right.
The fishing was slow for us all. Started out fishing Sencos but I switched to a Rattle Trap and fished some deeper water and on the 4th or 5th cast WHAM! right at the yak. Nice fat bucket mouth who made a fantastic aerial display right in front of my face and threw the Rattle Trap out as he laughed at me. No more bites on the Rattle Trap so I went back to a Senco and landed my only fish of the day. A dink but it was better than nothing.
I was great seeing Brian again and meeting Jack.
Jack gave us a nice fat bottle of honey. Besides being a truly awesome gesture I LOVE honey. Thank you again Jack. Can't wait to get you out on the salt water.
Found a spot where BBQ's are allowed and stoked up some hot dogs with Becky and Al.
Hey Al, when I said let's nail 'em I didn't mean your TIRE!
Fortunately it was an easy fix.
Becky and I had a very pleasant drive up and back and a fun time as always on the water.

You got that right...I hate getting nailed. Like Becky said "Can't take Al anywhere..."

I visited Les this morning, he got it fixed.
