Good luck out there.  Tiny chance that the heavens will line up and I can do a half day out there.  The general sturgeon spot is down river from the launch, opposite side, just past the first water pump on the same side (usually shore fisherman are up on top of the pump walkway and fishing like a pier.)  From the pump and down to the wooden warehouse (way down on the same side) sitting over the water is the general spot closest to the launch.  The launch side downstream where all the rock reinforcements run along the side is around 35' deep but it gets a little rip rappy on the bottom.  Not so good for Sturgeon.  By Friday if there hasn't been more rain, the debris piles should be done and the river cleaned up a bit but you really have to be careful of the large tree trunks that can come by.  Definitely have a quick release anchor system.  Those tree trunks are ninja like.

Merrits Landing is the public park/boat launch.  Free launch and parking.  Basically, just a couple of mile south of Clarksburg on the same side of the river.  Its a little long cutout of parking lot.  Its basic but I really like it there.  It is kind of out on its own so seems a bit sketchy, but there are always a bunch of shore fisherman out there and they are a pretty cool group that keeps things honest.  Usually there are guys out there 24/7 since it is Sturgeon season.  I still wouldn't leave any valuables sitting out.  Easy boat launch to roll or unload your yak from.  It doesn't really come out on many maps but if you use google maps or Earth, trace the road south of Clarksburg and you will see the little road that veers off the main road and then loops back to the main road.  That is basically it.
