I don't like most of the tip covers that slide on and off with no retention. It's not such a big deal on the yak (unless you get thrown in the surf and are trying to avoid the shaft) but it's a very big deal on my Achilles inflatable. Many people have used cork or a piece of band material. I have used both. For me, the cork doesn't stay on very well and I always lose the little pieces of band material. I decided to use a fairly long and bright white piece of pvc pipe and a bungie and it works better. It doesn't get lost and it only comes off when I want it to. We have been out on the Achilles in some very rough swell and the guns end up bouncing around no matter what we do. I'm always worried the boat is going to get speared. This system gives me more peace of mind. I used some fat bungie because it was in my garage. Some thinner cord would be more ideal.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?
