It's my spring break.  :smt044   I've got the hobie loaded on top of the Prius.  We've rented a place in Arcata.  Wife's already up there, I hit the road in the morning.  Will be looking for places to fish nearby on T/W/Th   Will likely try freshwater lagoon but I'm open to any and all other suggestions.  -- I know I haven't posted in a while but I'm still here and soon to be up there.  Get me outa the city!  -- Dave --  :smt006

Dave - I hope to meet up with you, but I've been saving WAF for salmon season opener at Shelter Cove in two weeks.

Let's at least get together for lunch and/or a brew.   :smt001

DEFINITELY! -  :occasion14:- I see the weather looks rainy all week, but I don't care.  :sunny:   I fished freshwater lagoon in the rain last year at spring break and caught the stockers.     :fish2 I'm probably nuts for bringing the kayak up but it's my only window of opportunity until June.   :smt045

Hope you have a good week. Saw you driving up just north of Santa Rosa.
Gave you a wave but going 65 towards each other you may not have seen.

Is it just me or when ever you see another kayak you say to your self which NCKA member is that.

You know I was looking for other NCKA folks on the drive   :smt001 but unless you've got the sticker (and I need to get one!) or a kayak on your vehicle then it's a tough call.   But I do sorta stand out with the black Prius and yellow hobie. -- So here's the wave back!   :smt006

On 101 the Russian River and the upper part of the Eel river looked pretty good, not blown out, too high or muddy, but towards the coast the Eel got pretty much muddy and blown out.  (If I'm using that term correctly.)

It's looking kind of messy up here tomorrow -- wind and rain, but I will play it by ear   :toothy2: (my specialty).  I will probably scout some things out tomorrow and hopefully hook up with Eric for a brew or coffee for his local intel.

I'm kinda thinking Freshwater lagoon and maybe just for sigh-seeing Stone or Big Lagoon.   It depends upon conditions.

But it's no big deal.  I'm on vacation.   :smt043

Didn't make it out today.  Slept in.  :sleepy1:  A little before noon I went to Mad River Tackle to pick up some small stuff and ran into Phil Glenn, charter captain of the Celtic out of Eureka.   That was fun, we caught up and talked local fishing some.    :smt039

I promised my wife on this visit I would look at some houses she's scoped out. We want to retire up here in the next few years, so we did that today in the rain.     :smt012  That was painful, though it would probably have been miserable on Freshwater Lagoon today.  It kind of feels like I squandered a day, though.   :smt010

Tomorrow the Wx looks a bit better so -- maybe the next post will be a fishing report, even if a skunk one.   :smt006

Oh yeah,  Phil Glen's boat is the Shellback now.  He USED to own the Celtic many years ago ... the FIRST time I ever came up here salmon fishing was with him on that boat.  DUH ... no brain cells left. :smt003
