I have not hear anything in regards to placing orders, is the interest high enough to do it and who is doing it?
I know I would like at least one.

Guys..... Sorry for responding to the questions sooner.   I'm still experimenting with the best way to more permanently apply graphics.  The nylon is so slick the graphics have eventually peeled off the prototypes pictured.  Any ideas?

Perhaps, we can produce a first batch naked without graphics.  I hope to have an update with pricing by next week.

The durable nylon material is very slick so we're currently challenged with finding a reliable way to get graphics applied on the flag.

I used to be a Graphic Designer for a flat work screen printer and we could print literally any surface and even use UV resistant ink.
I printed all sorts of outdoor vinyls, decals and plastics even computer keyboards. I bet you could find a printer that could do it and do it right.  Heck, they screen print our kayaks.
I know there would be plenty of takers on this site. The more you print, the cheaper they are.
I'll take two please. :smt001

Of course that ink was toxic as hell and probably outlawed in California. :smt012

ChuckE,

Crawfish58 is correct, these days the good print houses can print on just about anything.

I'm assuming that you want to try and print and produce these yourselves and save money?

Printing on a coated Cordura type fabric, at home may prove to be a challenge. The heat required to properly cure a plastisol ink may compromise your fabric and or coating, again a good print shop would best be able to pull this off. Not saying you cant do it, but you will need to experiment. Ive had backpacks I desined at my old job screen printed on a poly 600D/ coated, but done at a serious factory, also had the same material sublimated.

Just a note, if you were to screen print them yourself on this material or another, customizing each individual flag will be costly, and VERY time consuming, unless you had your own printer capable of printing on vinyl. I suggest one flag fits all to keep your cost down, and spend more time fishing rather then burning custom screens till 3 am every morning, you'd want to hang yourself after you got a order of 30 custom flags :) But thats just my opinion.

Speaking of vinyl, im sure you have seen the sponsor banners at fishing events, or races and so on... I would think that would make an ideal material, its printed directly on the material, its totally weatherproof, you can have anything you can imagine printed on it, but you would have to hire a print house,  i cant see it costing all that much?

What you would do is call a print house that prints on vinyl, ask them how wide their roll is they print on, length is typically pretty unlimited and not and issue, anyway once you get the width, have zee see how many flags he can layout with the width dimension, side by side. Then print how ever many you need (Length x width) you gotta lay it out and do the math. In your bulk layout for printing, allow a little space in between each flag for cutting them out and a sewing allowance. Cut out each flag from the printed roll and sew em up! You could actually customize individual flags using this method, without any extra cost, or work really. By the way, this is assuming you are sewing the flags yourselves? You didnt mention that? If they are pre-bought, and your just printing them, scratch this idea.

I suggest calling Merry Trucksis, she owns http://www.trucksis.com

They are all about eco friendly inks and stuff.
She is in Monterey, they do all the banners for the big race events in Monterey.

Have you considered the thick vinyl they use for highrise signs (100' up ) it lasts forever and does not need to be sewn, just a thought as I worked for a sign co. at one point.
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.
