Headed up for our annual trip to Idaho in A few weeks to visit the inlaws. Gonna stay on the Salmon River. Has anyone ever fished here? Really looking foreward to fishing some new places.Maybe even get A guide for A day. Gonna stay at the best western lodge. Any pointers would be awsome!

I haven't fished there, but I have fished the Clearwater quite a bit. This time of year some of the best tactics involve floating small jigs tipped with shrimp under a bobber. I've had the best luck with 1/16oz black jigs w/red bead heads tipped with a piece of shrimp about the size of your pinky nail.
Too bad Riggins is a solid 6 hours away or I'd meet up with you for a day or two!  :smt006

I've fished both the Little Salmon and the Clearwater but not the Salmon. Do what Fishin-jay said, fish a jig and bobber . Better yet, find a guide and catch a 20+ B-run steelhead or monster sturgeon.

Like the crappie jigs?

Yup.  Except the hooks are a bit stronger.

These are steelhead jigs. I've had the best luck with the one on the top/left in 1/16, but you'll have to let depth and current decide the best weight to use.
Also, I think going with a guide is a good call. steelhead are notoriously finicky, so unless you have time to find the fish and work them hard for several days, then a guide will give you the best odds for hooking up. Have fun!

I have not fished it since 98' and it was tough then. I was there in March that year and flows were up quite a bit. I'd go the guide route, or get as much local knowledge as you can. I fished all over Idaho and Montana for 3 years and the only time I really got into nice fish was taggin along with guide buddies or local intel on hotspots and lure selection. I saw Raplh Cutter talk recently and it changed my whole perception of what I thought I knew about stream trout fishing, you should check out his videos, they alone might help you produce.
