Has anyone installed and/or used this yet, http://store.oceankayak.com/products/393720/Ultra_4.7_Rod_Tube_Kit?  Trying to decide if this is a better option than cutting away the bottom of the center hatch and making it similar to T15s.

I ordered the tube . It mounts in the well and the holes in theflange are supposed to line up with the 4 moulded wellnuts. I am cutting the well out to make it like my T-15. Not all of it though. Im going to leave the area for the battery .. You are going to need someplace to put the pump so you can get water out if a leak happens. I have never actually seen anyone pumping out an Ocean Kayak yet though. All I have seen are Hobie leaks

Thanks for the "teaser" pics Ravensblack,,, will be interested to see/hear how your final cutout goes.  This 4.7 is my first dedicated fishing yak, I've use my sea kayaks before, or borrowed friend's SOTs.  Time to get this thing bloody, and this Sunday is the day!  I'll probably fish it a few times before deciding on rod tube or cutout or both,,, but I'm real interested to hear how your cutout goes.

Ravensblack - I'm new to NCKA and didn't find out about GS5 until it was too late,,, so without dragging out the laundry list of excuses,,, I won't be heading down to Shelter this weekend.  Gonna meet my friends and fish up here, around Trinidad, for the opener.  I'll make it out for some events however, as it'd definitely be nice to meet NCKA folks face to face and exchange ideas, and ummmm, beverages. :party

FF - got it installed.  I've never had a FF before, so kinda didn't think much about battery accessability while on the water,,, so mounted mine in the hanging bag in the bow storage, but shoved it way back, so it basically sits just under the forward rod mount inserts/hump.  What a PITA it was to tighten the nuts for the hanging bag,,, lots of cursing insued, until I had a couple more beers and flipped the yak, so that the hanging bag would be supported while I tightened the straps.  First time I have issues while on the water, I'm gonne yank the sucker out, weld up the holes, and get the battery in the center hatch.

Did you ever do this?  I'm referring to cutting the bottom out of the center hatch well.   If so, what are your thoughts?

Craig or anyone with one of these rod tubes, can you tell me what length they are?  Couldn't seem to find it on OK's site, but kinda seems like an important detail if you ask me  :smt002
