It would be verrryy easy to make a sand cast mold for an anchor that size. Which is about right for a drift boat. Massive overkill for a kayak.

If you are using it for river fishing 10lbs is perfect

Check out the anchor INSAYN posted as a prize on the GMS6 thread, somewhere around page 20 or so.  He said he pours them for the NWKA crew, I shot him a PM to see if he has any upcoming pours that we could get in on.

Thanks for the props beenfishin.

Saw your PM and I got you down for one @ $35 and that includes free delivery to GS6.

It is right at 10#'s ($35), but I can also make them at 7#'s ($25).

Note: These anchors sell very quick up here, to the point I always have a waiting list.  I don't make a huge run of them at a time (maybe 6-10), as lead is nasty stuff to work with and the amount of time it takes to make with the recessed raked head.  They also sport stainless eye's.  The flat bottom and recessed raked head is what makes this anchor really kayak friendly and hold great in high current areas.

How much scope to you need to get the recessed top to keep digging in the bottom? I was thinking of making a longer pyramid version of the same weight 5,8 and 10's for more drag. Neat looking product Craig! Craig.

Scope is similar to what the power boaters use.

10 feet deep, 30-40 feet of line out.
100 feet deep, at least 300 feet of line out.
Everything in between.

Basically a 20º to 30º rope angle from kayak to bottom.

those are a great looking design anchor! How do you make the recessed top? I've never seen that before. Also like the flattened bottom. I usually slam a new anchor on the point on concrete to acthieve that shape. The scooping effect must hold better with less weight.

I do it with magic.
Now if I post how, everyone would be making them this way and I like to be unique.
We'll just keep that a little secret for now.
