Out in a buddy's jet boat from 8 AM till 1. Lots of busts early in day. No sign from 9 till noon then they started up again. Caught them on minnows, kastmasters, and zooms. This was all directly east of the south ramp. We were all alone. I look forward to saturday and fishing with fellow 'yakers. The two we kept were 6.5 and 9.5 lbs.
Going at daybreak tomorrow. Also, the minnows weren't the best, not very lively, not buying any tomorrow.
Fish on!

If I remember correctly the minnows were about $1 for the small and $1.50 for the larger ones.  Of the 8 that Jim and I bought this weekend, two died by the time we got on the water so plan for some attrition.  If the fish are biting you might go through a dozen in no time, if they aren't you might have the same minnow on the whole day.

That same day Bob and I bought 12 and 4 were dead by the time we hit the ramp....like 5 or 6 minutes. 1 more of the ones I had in my bucket died also. I caught my striper trolling my last two minnows.

Joel,

We didn't have that exact system, but we did have a battery operated aerator running in our minnow bucket and still had causalties.  I think the shiners at the baitshop in Ukiah just aren't the greatest in terms of quality.

Ditto that. Ours were transported in an Aerator also.

BTW - Thanks for the report Mako   :toothy3:o!

The new bait is better, but it still sucks.  They get it from FAR away.  I will continue to beat them into switching vendors.

Sean, you need to put Jelly to work and have him raise minnows for a summer job.
