I'm thinking about getting a single inflatable ama kit for my Revo and was looking for some feedback from anyone that has been using it. I would be getting it to stand up and cast or just stretch while on the water. Does the single inflatable ama give enough stability to stand & cast comfortably? I was thinking I could add something between the ama arm and that side of the kayak to get a larger stance also. Would that be possible? Again, I'm only interested in getting a single ama to put on the left side only. Thanks, jim

Jim,

I'm surprised no Revo owners have input on this.

I can weigh in on the Adventure with one ama installed. I would say it would require very good balance to pull off standing and casting. Probably be better on one knee or if you had additional support (boards?) to give you the needed balance point for both legs.

I slipped and lost my balance on my rig and put my foot down through one of the attachment snaps on my tramps. Stayed in the boat but nearly clothes-lined myself in the process. I probably would have been fine if my leg had pushed down on the trampoline instead of the opening by the rear (trampoline) attachment snaps. The Hobie hulls themselves seem to not have many flat spots and can get slippery. I think there was fish slime on the 8 inch hatch cover and it sent me flying.

I use the single Ama all the time on my AI...for stripers in relatively calm water, with a tramp. I can stand and pee, but kneel to cast and fight fish...

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like the tramp is key. Might have to start to consider an AI so I can run a regular ama and tramp. Either that or a PA. $$$$

The PA sure looks like it would be awesome for stand-up FW bass fishing, plus with all that capacity could easily mount a live well for tourney fishing if desired.
