All,

I am looking for a "real" tackle shop.  In Santa Cruz we have outdoor world, which is fine if you want powerbait.....  Can anyone steer me to a bass specialty shop or real tackle shop in the bay area?

Walton's Pond (510-352-3932) in San Leandro is FANATICAL about bass fishing.  They have everything related to bass fishing including a small bar where guys sit for hours talking fishing stories.  Owner, John Walton, is also one of the nicest guys you'll ever deal with.  Now matter how busy he is, he'll take the time to share his expert knowledge with you.

Try Bayside Marine, in the harbor.  I'm sure Todd could use the buisness.  I'm sure if he doesn't carry it he can get whatever you need.  Support the little guys.  It would be a real loss if Todd had to close his doors.

Well.... let me qualify that.... It's actually just a counter with barstools near the front of the store.  He doesn't serve any alcohol, but I think it would be an excellent idea.  All someone would need is a liquor license and beers on tap.   Well.... there's your business plan :smt002

ChuckE is 100 percent right about Waltons Pond.  I have been visiting his shop for the past couple years, and I have been completely satisfied.   It doesnt matter if Wal mart is cheaper,  this guy is honest and worth spending the extra $ on.  Waltons Pond is #1.
