Here's a link for agate    http://www.co.marin.ca.us/depts/PK/Main/pos/pdagatebch.cfm

We were out there Sunday in our PB(24' homemade epoxy/ply Tolman alaska skiff) and got two salmon. Came in and dove a wreck off Agate Beach and guessing at the surf on the beach inshore of us I think you could launch there. We used to paddle off that beach with paddleboards to dive the wreck in '84-'85. But I'm dating myself. Bit of a hump down a short steep trail but we were younger then. Can't give you directions but just search for 'Agate State Beach' in your search engine. Much shorter paddle than from inside Bolinas as long as the swell is down IMO. Bob

Hey, Gabe (and all).

I'm embarresed about the "bird" photo.  I really should have cleaned my fingernails first.  :smt003   I suppose the dirtbag who stole my work boots must have needed them more than I.  I hope they relish the fungal infection they will soon discover.  LOL!

If I hadn't gotten my pants wet during the launch I wouldn't have felt so cold and miserable, early on.  Other than that, I had a good time.  Having caught (and not caught) plenty of salmon from my kayak, I now go with the goal of simply enjoying my time on the water away from the noise of urban life.  FYI, the tides were:  0.79 at 04:02;  3.94 at 09:19;  0.09 at 16:04.  No one was catching until Gabe netted his at 10:30.   The bite turned on after that.

What kind of trail is it? big enough for kayak wheels?

Yes plenty wide as we humped an inflatable up that trial. Ocean needs to be calm as it's facing the North. If there isn't a major,5'+?, swell it's just small shore break as the offshore kelp and finger reefs break the swells. Drive on by and check it out sometime when you're doing the Bolinas launch thing. Beautiful view from the cliffs overlooking the beach and trial is down a natural raven(sic). Diving is so-so there as the cliffs in the area are 'shale' and pretty muddy :smt009 usualy with a 'green peasoup' look. Needless to say plenty of shallow water rockcod fishing( :smt001when open) on the finger reefs as private boats don't generally get in very close. Sunday the fleet was straight out from this location 1-1/2m? My twin brother, Bruce, will be joining you  'Linda Mar' kayakers this summer with his paddleboard as he lives right there in Pacifica. Hit him up as he probably will have livebait :smt008(we work in the City). Bob
