Want to take my 11-year-old Nephew shark / Ray fishing. Looking for a hot spot between South City and Redwood City.I'd like to stay away from any of the piers cause there's always some kook drinking & swearing.

Appreciate any suggestions.

oh.....and company welcome  of course :smt006

Mooch, not sure about this time of year, but the guys at the welding shop down the street from me hit up the area behind the car dealerships off 101 by the Whipple exit in RC. They bank fish exclusively.

I used to fish the area called fishermans park over off of airport blvd next to coyote point. Friends caught stripers there before Ive caught rays and sharks.

The best spot I have had is at the mouth of the Tamales bay. Great place to take a kid just make sure to get the tides right(you will want the low tide in order to walk far out on the hard packed sand but don't get too close to the edge) and you can get pretty far out there and chuck some bait in the hole.  Lawson landing creates and easy spot to access this spot and they usually have bait and treats needed. Can also throw some rings for crabs off the dock.

Thanks for the intel fellas.

Wes, I know that spot your talking about...great spot!

Think I'll try Oyster point first (fish South of the pier - where the ramp is) and make my way to Coyote Point and maybe Foster City. I'm hoping I can save my nephew from being a full blown  "gamer"  :smt011

If you go during the daylight, less likely someone will be drunkenly fishing off the piers.   :smt002  I've definitely caught sharks at both OP and Coyote, so good choices there I think  :smt003

Contact Inseine-Jim, Moochie!
He is doing hook & line (fishing) survey there in South Bay. He goes out there almost every weekend (I believe).  You guys might be able to join his crew.

Not sure about hotspot, but a couple miles up Redwood Shores Parkway at Avocet Drive, behind the Firehouse. Its on a main channel close to bay water. Been looking at it as a potential launch site.  Should be water there during most of the tide cycle.  A little further up at Watersdie Dr. or Seachase Dr. there is visitor parking next to small grassy parks along the shore path. Between the fire station and Waterside is a spot where the deeper water comes closest to shore and there is a lagoon inlet there that might attract fish

Sharay fishing is usually very slow this time of year. Keep that in mind wherever you go.

Try Oyster Point behind Genentech in South San Francisco, or Seal Point Park in Foster City.
