The thing i like about lumber racks is that they are super durable. They plow right thru the branches and the like. You can also load lumber,re-bar,pipe and all sorts of crap you probably don't need.

I would have to agree with kayakjack and with many others on the toyota. U cant beat its reliability and I cant complain on my gas mileage, 18-19 hwy, and thats w/ a 3in. lift, 4x4, and ladder rack! I love my yota, and a lot people tell me its been one of my best investments! I agree. Plus, being a painter/handyman and Hunter, I need this truck. I bought it with the intentions of driving it Thru Brush while in some of my hunting areas down old logging roads, I own those roads in my truck and it just breaks thru brush like nothing! Yea, its a beast! I thought of getting a camper shell, but they just take away from the good lucks of the truck itself and I like the simplicity of jumping in out the back when I must! I bought it at 199,000, and its now at 254,000.  Still going on original motor and trans! If I had to buy another vehicle, which I do, I would get a Suburu Impreza wagon for its better gas mileage, AWD, and and its versatility!

Heh, I've got the 07' Sub Imp Ob and a 00' 4Runner 4X4!  Feels like the best combo in the world for living and driving up in the mountains (like we do!)  Still, after all these reviews, I feel like getting a 4cyl Toyota beater truck  :smt044

* Funny thing is that I have gotten a lot of offers on my 94 Toyota - seems like the 22RE engines are a favorite for a lot of truck people.

Angle loves my 22re, it's been his source for endless heckling since we caravaned to the barn. Apparently leadfoot doesn't like sticking to a 55mph max speed on the freeway :)

Thanks for all the suggestions an info. I like that Gemtop option, and will look into the Sub Imp. I do like to camp, go to the snow yet rack up the miles. Looking to spend not much more than $15,000. cheers.
