I recently went to Quail point in Zamora. Phenominal place, excellent operation! But, halfway thru our hunt, I looked around, and it looked just like our home in Montana! The wheat fields were missing, but these could have been draws running up out of our fields back home. Finished the hunt with two brand new hunters, friend's kids, and they had the hunt of a lifetime. Pepper, out hunted most of the setters and pointers in the group! I was proud, and humble too. Finished out with only two lost quail. Not bad, fricken awesome is what it was! Gunny always wanted to go home with me and bird hunt, since 95 I think we have been talking about it. I called him, and he is going to hunt with my kids, who will be taking hunter safety this week! Iroelike that is also taking hunter ed and will join us. But, even though I hunt with Wayne frequently here, he can only walk a few hundred yards now before his hip and knee give out. I thought, chasing chukar, quail, and pheasants up one of those draws, will come close.

Dang, was busy writing and lord knows how long I didn't noticed I ran out of room! Anyhow, it would be like hunting back at our place up north on the high line. It matches up to the pictures fine, and I am sure Wayne would hold that experience close. Gunny was stationed in the Philipines, and still wont eat balut! But we gotta have some vets, I mean, VETS! That would love an upland bird hunt! I would love to do that!

I can tell ya from what I have learned over the last few years...

we need about 100 more orgs to even start to help all the vets coming back from these recents wars and old....

after the insurance Boondogle I just went through to go crabbing...

I can't even imagine what it would take to shoot a gun.....

Like the enthusiasm though...  that's what got me into this situation.....

You may have better luck trying a local range, doing some trap and skeet or something like that.  There is a range not far from Palo Alto VA in Santa Clara.

Frank, it was emphasis added, that it should be in all caps.

Heroes on the hunt would be cool for sure Montana. There is also a really cool sporting clays range in morgan hill which is fairly close to palo alto. Sporting clays is really a heck of a lot of fun. They also have a big shady picnic area. I also have a good family friend who sits on the board of directors for a big private skeet and bocceball club in stockton. I am pretty sure I could talk him into putting on a skeet/trap event with lots of good food for the vets. I don't know about all the insurance and beurocracy mumbo jumbo though. That is Don's department.
