So me and the wife have #2 on the way in a couple weeks. We are trying to plan a vacation for late July or August. We usually camp but this year we are renting a house as camping for a week with a two month old baby is not going to fly with her.

I am looking for a place we can rent a house or cabin that will be river/lakefront with some good fishing. My water time will be pretty restricted so I do not want to have to waste time walking/driving to and from. Given your druthers where would you go?  I have been looking on VRBO and found a few spots along the trinity, salmon and Sacramento. There is always Tahoe but I would like to avoid the summer crowds up there if I can. Almanor looked nice too but I was having trouble finding rentals that were actually waterfront.

I know this is all pretty abstract but figured I would throw it out for some opinions.

Best,
Phil
