Anyone heading to Trinidad on Friday 11/11/11 for some crabbing? I would like to bring my two sons over for our second annual trip. Last year was a blast! Hoping wx will be ok.  :smt006  ?

I was out last weekend saw Cajun both days. Crab were not as easy as last couple years but still some nice jumbos just put in the time.

Bring shrimp traps, I managed to catch 3 in my crab rings on Saturday.   They must be thick.

Check ocean conditions, swell forecast is improving for the weekend    but looks like its gonna blow.

I am gonna try to go out 2 of 3 days this weekend, probably sat and sun.

I guess as long as it is safe and a frew crabs are caught it's a great day with the boys. Last year we went twice. First we all three limited with only a couple of jumbos. The second time we just about got skunk. Hopefully the wx and ocean conditions will be ok, We may come over late Thursday and go out early Friday. Long drive after a long week. Never tried to trap shrimp before... that looks interesting. Can you use collaspable crawdad traps? I have a few? I thought Saturday and Sunday the storm is coming?

I'm not really sure about the crawdad traps.

The marine forecast is looking ok but not great for the weekend, the storm looks like it is going well north with just a bit of rain in the forecast for Saturday.  Even the wind forecast looks to be improving.

This Afternoon: SE wind 5 to 10 kt becoming variable and less than 5 kt. Mostly sunny. Mixed swell...WSW 7 ft at 11 seconds and WNW 2 ft at 12 seconds. Wind waves around 2 ft.

Tonight: Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming E 5 to 7 kt in the evening. Mostly cloudy. Mixed swell...WNW 9 ft at 13 seconds and WSW 5 ft at 10 seconds. Wind waves around 1 ft.

Veterans Day: E wind 5 to 7 kt becoming variable and less than 5 kt. Partly sunny. Mixed swell...NW 7 to 9 ft at 11 seconds and SW 4 ft at 9 seconds. Wind waves around 1 ft.

Friday Night: Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming N 5 to 10 kt after midnight. Mostly cloudy. Mixed swell...NW 5 to 6 ft and WSW 3 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.

Saturday: N wind 8 to 11 kt. Partly sunny. Mixed swell...NNW 7 ft and WSW 1 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.

Saturday Night: N wind 6 to 11 kt becoming variable and less than 5 kt. Rain likely. Mixed swell...NW 7 ft and WSW 1 ft. Wind waves 1 to 2 ft.

Sunday: Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming NNW 5 to 9 kt in the afternoon. A slight chance of showers. Mixed swell...NW 8 ft and SW 1 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.

Sunday Night: N wind 7 to 11 kt. A slight chance of showers. Mixed swell...NW 9 ft and SW 1 ft. Wind waves 1 to 2 ft.

I'm thinking of hitting the launch about first light tomorrow.  Anyone going to be out there?

Just dropped the pot down an hr ago will go check it this evening if you are around the area and want to let it soak over night you can paddle out with me. I plan on heading out between 4 and 5 to check and reset. hopefully the wind dies down a tad between now and then.

Ran into some Crab Raiders up at Loleta Fire Pavillion parking lot!   :smt003  They were greeted with a nasty looking Trinidad this morning, so Dave, Mitch and Sam ended up at Crab Park.  Coming down the hill from 101 after work I see yaks on a trailer and a crab pot steaming.  Then I see Dave wave and watch me as I drove by.  Went back to greet NCKA friends.  Cruised home and Collin and I headed back up on bikes for a bit more visiting.  It's always good to see the extended NCKA family out and about.   :smt001

Guys who jump on your local spot when they get pushed off big blue due to conditions, but, it turns out, they're only "Raiders" in a comical and endearing way, as I'm thrilled to be part of what became a successful trip for them.

I like your questions, Tuan.  You're out to learn and you're obviously humble.  Keep seeking knowledge.   :smt001

I pulled up on the Trinidad beach around 2 PM.  There was a varied array of boats and kayaks running out to get some crab.  I ended up getting a limit and getting back to Eureka around dark.  Still lots of em out there.  I went about 50 yards south of the bell.

When I was rolling home from  Trinidad I think that I saw the DR Dave rig and trailer parked in front of the Adorni Center.  These guys get around.  I guess that it calmed down some at Trin but there was still waves rolling in on the beach about every 5 seconds.
