another new guy

Hi all, I have been reading this forum for some time now and I finally got a Kayak so I thought I would intro and let you know I'm here. I am retired (62) and have a renewed interest in fishing. I read everything I could about the sport of kayak fishing and made reservations to go out on one while on vacation at Pismo Beach but I cracked a rib three weeks before so I had to cancel the kayak trip. I visited the yak shops there and was convinced that the OK was the yak to buy not ever actually experiencing so I searched all the forums here also and purchased an OK Prowler 15 with PFD and paddle. Not having a wet suit or anything else but those three things I went to Tomales Bay and Bodega Bay and found out the tide by Lawsons Landing is really strong so that didn't work well for me so I went to Dillon beach got a lesson on ballance and launching. It was fun and wet and exciting but at least now I am not afraid of trying to launch in some surf. I need to finish getting outfitted for the ocean and gain more experience too. Right now I am fishing lakes near my home and practicing falling off and getting back on, can't do it yet, well I can fall off, so I got to figure out getting back on. I have caught trout and bass but nothing big, a two pound trout turned my yak 180 and pulled me upstream a foot or so, I thought that was amazing for a little trout. He showed me two tail walks and a couple of dives too, awsome little trout, I smoked him. I'm looking forward to some great times on the water and meeting some or all of you at next years Yackhopper Fishing series or maybe some hookups, I would like to be with one or more to go out with the first time or two or three just to be safe. OK I am here and hope to fish with some of you in the future.

GO TO TIKI EVENT!!! You don't even need to leave the dock area to fish. Lots of striper right there! We are hoping to get over 100 guys on the water. This is not an event to be missed... Will be epic with great weather and tides. Come meet the group close to home and possibly win some stuff. there will also be a low key swap meet to get some needed Items cheeper Hope to see you there WTTM
