Hit up my backyard for another addiction fix.

Started the day with swim baits only for an hour or so, landed one very short butt.

Got some healthy sardines from the barge around 9am, and realized I left my rod holder in the truck :smt009
Oh well, stuck the live bait rod under the leg and continued to throw the swimmy all day.
had a blast out there, throwing the plastic keeps you on your toes and adds a little fun twist to Halibut fishing.

End the day around 5pm, totals were:
5 sculpin- 1 on plastic, 4 on live bait
A dozen jig fouling, bait killin lizard fish :smt013
2 short butts, 1 on plastic, 1 on sardine
1 - 27" butt on sardine

and new Personal best on the plastic, a 36" fat one :smt003

here's a couple pics of the day...

WTG! -- I am impressed.!!!  I have much to learn.

I had to work yesterday or I'd have been in our backyard, too! --  Great underwater shots of the hali! ...  Hope to see you OTW in the backyard! -- I have too much on my plate for the next 2 weeks to get out!   :smt010

Awesome!  I think you have the plastic-thing dialed in.  I've never considered using plastics for halibut- just didn't have any confidence in them, but you and others are proving otherwise.

Don, thanks for another report from Cabrillo. I'm actually heading down south tomorrow evening after work to attend my close buddy's wedding on Saturday; and I will be bringing both my yaks to fish with my cousin from LA.

Looks like that he and I will be hitting up Cabrillo Sunday morning for some ya fishing before driving back up to Salinas that evening. More than welcome to join us!  :smt003
