I got OTW at 3:00 this afternoon and fished until dark.  It was a beautiful afternoon, windy at times, calm at times.  I was going to go a bit further afield but started getting bit right away on the plastic so I never made it further than the green buoy and entrance to the Marina.  It was mixed species day.

1 short halibut (released)
1 16" spotted bay bass (caught, photographed, consumed for dinner, just now)   :smt003
1 short calico bass (released)
2 short barracuda (released)
1 sculpin  --- ok this one was camera shy, as I was reaching for the camera he got off before I could snap the picture.
uncounted scores of lizard fish (I should use these for bait!)

I'dve kept the sculpin too, but since I didn't have anything to cut the spines, it's just as well l lost it.  Note to self, get some clippers tomorrow, you could catch sculpin here at Cabrillo.

Loads of fun.  I'm still not catchin' em like some of the pros here (Don!) but this is fun, for sure.

Wtg Dave. Always nice to catch a variety of species. I've always wondered what calico bass tastes like.  Gotta fish down there the next time I'm down there. Thx for sharing

Love the bones and halibut and calicos looks like a fun day.

Miss fishing for the bass.

Cabrillo is probably one of those spots that holds more hali then anywhere else in the state.
