A man walks into a bar and yells "who wants to fight" No one says anything so he goes to another bar and yells the same thing... Eventually someone is going to knock his block off! I don't think this is anything new. & I get the point of "they have more to fear from us..." thing, in a big picture context.  GWS can't make us extinct as a species.

In terms of kayak paddlers here in central Cali though, the sharks kind of have the ball in their court. The fish in the vid is doing the same thing that one did to me at BH, just checking him out. It isn't displaying feeding or territorial behavior, and the fish clearly knows the guy on the SUP can see it. It's not really that crazy.

But what they don't show is the guy doing that in alone, cloudy water, because as ya'll have stated, one mistake by a feeding oriented shark would launch him & his SUP 10 feet in the air (at the least).

IMHO, there's reality, and then there are setup shots for the camera. I don't consider that vid true reality, but the guy has some guts to tempt fate for some cool UW shots.

This guy is a perfect creature of his environment.  H frequents places where shark threats are real, but are more often perpetuated by tiger or bull sharks.  BUT, the White shark is BIG BIG BIG in size and culture, overshadowing tiger sharks, bull sharks and coca cola by a fair margin.  So he cries foul, plays in the water, gets funding, cries louder, gets bolder, gets more money.... likely to make a mistake, but only be injured, forcing retirement but certainly not quelling the battle cry that made him rich.  Around the world, people do get eaten by fish, in the future they will as well.  we have more than enough humans for evolutionary and societal stability (if not too much), so even if a few extra humans are munched, we'll go on just fine.  in the end he will be the one who wins, rich and correct...cause sharks are way more at risk than humans....

     That guy up in Alaska with his girlfriend  had the same attitude about Grizzlies...  right up until the time they were eaten.
