Got irritating itch from jellyfish sting during my recent wsb trip. :smt010

Need suggestions how to deal with it.
It feels so good when I pricked it with my finger nails but it itches all the more.

Would appreciate any suggestions for cure.

Apply vinegar.

Will try this tonite.

Uh, doesn't the urine thing work?

Tried this Mr.Matt. Maybe, should do it more times.

Thanks Hojoman and Mr.Matt

The vinegar and urine tricks only work right after you've been stung, if I'm not mistaken.

If your urine doesn't work, try your buddy's  :smt003

Try putting some cortizone cream on it. Might just be an irritated allergic reaction.

For a rockfish spine stick, I put my hand under water as hot as I could stand for several minutes, and it helped a lot., and not just because it distracted my mind.

I've heard that TechNu, the poison oak treatment, can offer relief to jellyfish stings as well.
Never had occasion to try this myself.

good luck.

We put household ammonia on the area in the old days.  But that was more than 40 years ago though.

Meat tenderizer has enzymes in it that neutralize the nemocysts (stinging cells).  Hot water is the right treatment for puncture wounds from fish or urchin spines.
