Just wanted to say "thanks" to all those that patiently answered all my 'noob' questions.  Still lots to learn, but took all you've shared to Lake Berryessa yesterday and launched the yak.  It was a maiden voyage for us both.

Took a while for my brain to disconnect my feet from my hands so the rudder could do its job - but once it did - off I went (in a straight line).  Thereafter, spent a while nugging through stuff - "I wanted to put the FF here; will that work?  Yep."  "I wanted a rod holder here; will that work? Nope."  Intentionally rocked the yak back and forth to get an idea on stability.  Kept hearing Mooch say, "I just throw my paddle in the water" - so gave that a try - damn, look at that - picked it up, threw it back in (leash attached of course).  Just like a kid learning something for the first time - repeated paddle tossing until I got bored - moved on.  Did figure 8's around the bouy's, hugged the shoreline without crashing, paddled myself right into 6 inches of water - hmmm, where did all the water go.  A few hours later, landed the yak.  It was a good day!

Practice can be a lot of fun :smt003.  Sure is nice to know that 6" is more than enough water to keep on yaking, gets you back into those spots nobody else can reach :smt044

Good to hear you got your kayak wet Kenny!
Berryessa is a great lake for kayak fishing.
Now, don't forget your camera to share pics of your adventures! :smt003
