has anyone fished near Cambria?  where are there good launch sites?  If I recall rockfish opens May 1...right?

Morro Bay and Avila Beach are nearby and should have access to easy launch sites, but I haven't fished this area...

Rockfish season opens May 1 South of Point Lopez.

There's a state park at San Simeon, where it is generally easy to launch.

Another spot used to be Arroyo Laguna, but it's been long enough since I lived in SLO that things might have changed. The Elephant Seals were just getting to be a nuisance then, and the population was going up, up, up, so who knows if the authorities have closed off access. It was inside a massive kelp bed, so it was a favorite for windsurfers.

Cayucos to the south can also provide easy access to kelp beds North of the town.
