I'm looking for a back slough in the delta to take my kids for some catfishing, bassing, or panfishing as well as throwing a crawdad trap out.  Maybe after chasing frogs for a few hours we can come back to the traps.  Places with pebbles are best as we will be bringing slingshots.

Suggestions appreciated,
Nate

We're open to go anywhere.  Didn't want to drive too far as that would burn up time and they'd get bored.    It'd be great if there was a good diner close by so I wouldn't have to pack lunch.  But not too picky about location.  Open to exploring.

I've been to whiskey slough (I think) but that was over 15 yrs ago.

I'm looking forward to any feed back you might get, old lazy guys like me would enjoy an outing like this for ourselves. And the grandkids are coming up.

Ok well I don't know where your coming from but I would probably say georgiana slough. I have gone out.there on a pb and done ok . I haven't tried shore and the last time I was out there I was looking for places to launch a canoe and that wasast year. Another option is Brannon island state park I've caught a lot of black bass out by there.

Georgiana slough from the shore is a tough proposition.  You will not be welcome by most of the property owners, but it is possible---there is a spot where we launch kayaks about 3 miles down the slough from the Georgiana Slough Bridge.  There are usually a few people shore fishing there, and there is a lot of room most of the time.  Fishing from the shore in the Delta is dependent on access.   You could drive into Walnut Grove after fishing and get the kids ice cream and sandwiches at Mel's.  KILLER ICE CREAM! They will have to split the sandwiches, and you're a hero!

Isn't there still a little park out there where there are benches and bbq'd pits

If you are taking kids and fishing from the shore we used to go to Clifton court forebay its close to Tracy. There can be good catfish crappie bass and bluegill. but you have to do some walking. If you see the water boil you got stripers so bring rattle traps. Whiskey Slough is still there and full of bass bluegill and cats. Also at discovery bay you could fish there by the boat ramp and walk the road and find some fish. I go there in late October catch small 2 to 3 inch bluegill hook them in the lip and go for the bigger stripers. The best way to fish the delta is in a boat it allows you to get to hundreds of places you will never see from the bank.

Try the East Bay Regional Park District web site.

I think that Big break is still free parking.  Both places have a fishing pier.  Big Break has lots of room for kids to safely explore.  McDonald's, Buger King, Taco Bell Etc. are a few blocks away.
